David Reyes has been named chief executive officer of a advanced manufacturing firm headquartered in Charlottesville, the company announced this week, stepping into the role during a period of rapid expansion.

A homegrown leadership story

David joined the company several years ago in an operations role before rising through the ranks, a trajectory the board says was central to the decision.

"We didn't want an outsider learning the business from scratch," a board member said. "David already understands every part of how we operate, from the factory floor up."

Priorities for the new role

In a statement, David outlined plans to expand the company's workforce in Charlottesville over the next two years while investing in new equipment and training programs for existing employees.

"Growth only matters if it's good growth," David said. "That means good jobs, real training pathways, and staying rooted in this community as we scale."

Industry context

The appointment comes as Virginia's firm sector has drawn increasing attention from state economic development officials, who point to the region's workforce and transportation infrastructure as competitive advantages.

Reaction from employees

Several longtime employees said the promotion from within sent a positive signal about the company's culture.

"It matters when leadership has actually done the jobs they're now managing," one production supervisor said.

What's ahead

The company says it plans to announce details of its expansion plans, including potential new hiring targets, before the end of the year.
